Topic 1: Human? Non-human?
Studying non-human primates can offer insights into the origins of human biology and behavioral tendencies/patterns. Why is the ability to plan ahead so important? What does it say about primate intelligence? How does it differ from pure instinctual behavior such as hunger?
Topic 2: Monkeying around
Were you surprised to learn some primates possess elements of culture (tool use or language ability or attachment to pets) and clever social behavior? How does it affect the way that you see them compared to other animals? Do you think primates deserve any kind of legal rights or protection?
